I wish I'd had the chance to tell you what you meant to me,
But my hopes faded with the setting sun and now it can never be.
I miss the way you used to smile, your eyes dancing in the light,
And I miss your arms around me, warming me deep into the night.
You pulled me from my ruin, and inspired me with your song,
Yet, you never realized you were the one who made me strong.
You were a rock on which to cling amidst a sea of pain,
And I believed you'd always be there, like the sunshine after rain.
I spoke to you softly with my mind, telling you of my love,
But never noticed the warm summer skies darkening up above.
There was a roll of thunder, a flash of light, the wind turned sharp and cold,
A wave came up, I lost my grip, and you slipped from my hold.
Then you were gone and I alone, with my pain and grief,
You sacrificed yourself for me, I stole your life, I was a thief!
I would gladly give my life to bring you back from death,
And I'd profess, to you, my love, with my dying breath
But Fate has had the final say, I cannot change the past,
And I dream that someday we'll be together, forever, at last.
So I will not curse our star-crossed love, though it has brought me pain & sorrow,
And I'll live each day as I did before, yet hope for death tomorrow.

dedicated to a female friend who died of cancer at the
age of 15.

Not posted in about 2 years so don't know if this is sutible as it does have some suicidal urges etc, but I feel it isn't too heavy.

Anyway please let me know what you think.

A tragically BEAUTIFUL eulogy/prayer for death. Extremely well penned, ben! First of yours I've read, and it was very compelling, very moving, and very tearing. Thank you!

Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere

my heart aches over your loss. nothing else i could say would be worth much, but this was a tremendously fantastic poem, and needs to be read. no moderator here, but i would sincerely hope they would agree.
very moving. i am sad. yet, that's the intention of this (at least for me)

i'll always need a friend, one i can defend.
