Where do you go when the well is dry,
when not a single drop of refreshment falls,
not even after staring all day at a blue sky
puffed up with sporadic cumulus flying by?

And when the dirt on the ground jumps up,
hits you in the eye ‘till you cry
ENOUGH! ENOUGH! ENOUGH!
you simply keep moving,

slink-walking down the alley, hoping
no one sees the tears in your eyes
you try so hard to disguise
as you bleed through another dark day.

"Turn the other cheek" someone said.
May I remind you, I already did?

One foot goes in front
as the other drags itself behind
not wanting to go,
not able to stay.

Another limbo day,
when not a drop of refreshment
falls onto this block of Hell.

Did someone just ring
the proverbial bell?

slink-walking down the alley...Nice lines here Midnitesun. Dirt in the eye, stick in the eye, it's a good thing we're able to heal for the next bout. Nice penning.

thanks, click, nice to meet you!

Wayne, thanks for that reply. It's a good thing I am basically Gumby/Pokey-like, bendable and resilient. LOL

It definately hits me. Nice work, man. I liked the ending.
