there was a time in my life
i may never see again
like a ship on the horizon
slowly growing dim

i hear the songs of yesterday
playing in my head
i see my dreams so far away
slowly coming in

people come and they go
they never stay the same
and i sit and wonder how long
this one will remain

memory lane, take me away
back to the good places i've been
show me the way, call out my name
carry me back, memory lane

i saw your gentle face today
as it flashed through my mind
just like it was so long ago
but neatly froze in time

i'll always need a friend, one i can defend.

ahh yes.  To wish that what was once could still be.  I've been there, so many times.  The future just never seems as great as parts of the past.  Very nicely written.

If this isn't lyrics from a song you've written, then shame on you. You succeeded in taking me back to places I've been, and I'll read this one over and over again just to go there. Kinda made me want to move to that street, as this one I'm on sorta sucks. A most "memorable" write, and that wasn't meant to be such a bad cliche as to make you want to freeze me in time. KUDOS!

Beautiful. Nice work.

Hollow.

Makes me wonder too, EveGnosis.

Yes this is true.  I guess thats what reminds us of the fact that what we choose is our choice and we are the ones that will truly be stuck with whatever outcome.

I read this poem again, and it means even more to me now. Thank you, it was beautiful.

Michael:

I adore this, it seems that Autumn brings this out in all of us:

memory lane, take me away
back to the good places i've been
show me the way, call out my name
carry me back, memory lane

This is beautiful doll... it's one that I had to read a couple of times because I truly adore it.
