Look behind me,
Shadows trip-tripping blindly,
Following me wisely,
Lead everyone to a fate,
Pied piper of better days.
To better ways.

Get out of this world,
Out of our selfish heads,
Hating ourselves for the wrongs we can’t put right,
Holding ourselves tightly,
Looking behind my shoulder,

Is anything there?
To harm me?

Break my spirit and wind me up,
Nerves tightly taut,
Organs playing high low,

Sounds manufactured to make us believe,
We have to run.

What are we running for?
Pitter patter,
More like, thunder, stumble,
Running from ourselves,
Better than hiding under covers,
Under our beds.

Our shells we stepped out of,
Hunting us down,
World emergency,
Our past is catching up,
Running, and running,
Don’t stop,
Running, and running,
From ourselves.

We are running from ourselves.

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had. - Gary Jules, Mad World.

Indeed one of your very best, I totally loved this one from beginning to end. I had the imagery of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi with the "trip...trip...tripping....."(paraphrased, but Rikki is one of my heroes!!), and then the rest of the story was just too poetic to crumple into a categorical box. You out did yourself here hollow...
