Signs of truth shine through my eyes,
Yet lies and guilt corrupt the soul.
Lost the power, can no longer hide,
Ran away from an unforgiving failure.

Holding on to a memory that never existed,
A moment I thought I could control.
Watch my smile disappear, laughter fade away,
And let my stare burn through you.

Surrendered to the reality of destruction,
Used too much pain on too much pleasure.
Gave up trust for a little understanding.
All that's left is a memory I thought I had.

Honesty was my enemy
Burning my moment to useless ashes.
I suffer from the remains,
And my soul left standing.

"I'm just me, trapped in a body."
