Teetering on the edge of the cliff Crumbling ground, beneath her feet Stones rolling into the empty pool of the abyss Only will stands between her and nothingness Breath held, arms spread Eyes closed, will she take that step? Time stops, suspended in air So close to the stars, glitter sprinkles into her hands Entranced by tranquil beauty Time warps to speed, gravity sucks her down Falling faster than sound She prays for a safety net Someone to help her Every bone shatters As the dejected body collides with Earth. Last desperate moments, unable to move She squints up at the cliff Half blinded by sun A silhouetted figure is visible No hands were there to protect her Only there to push.
