Over in a couple of months
you said.

After an eternity
of apprehension,
fear is a
living thing,
dragging me into
constant despair

Your remembered smile
bringing pain
impossible to bear.

Now, the rap on the door.

Ice touches my heart as
Fingers tremble on yellow.

The final reaper takes his toll.
Possessing the soul
of a heroic man.
