Ohh such laughter
once stirred
from her fragile limbs
creaking just so

A step of toe
in mask of night
watching over four
as they slept

she

had a garden
botanical serenity
her fortress
a moat . . . beautiful
within and out

This is the only home I ever had

Now the scent
of baked apple pie
no longer streams
from window
pain

silence  . . .
the only sound

Remnants of what once was
and is

no longer

remain

in each new burst of bulb
with Spring
and each drive by
on wintry afternoon

Sometimes she calls to me
acoustic melody
broken shards
of concrete plaster
heart

the drive of a lifetime

The pull from my chest
leaves me breathless
as I look
and turn away

I cannot help but see myself
once standing inside her
comforted by her embrace
and that of those within

She calls to me in my sleep
to come home

I am only able let escape
silent whisper

head bowed and solemn
I reply

"I cannot"

A melancholy, reminiscent piece with a hard touch of "Socratic human query" asked and answered, almost simultaneously.

Exceptional work, littlewing.

Sue, on first glance this is very powerful, but like i told craig, today i only have sparce amounts of time last week of school and all, but i am comming back to this one to give you a better response, but first read i enjoyed this...
