How does it feel to be a martyr?
Always asking what’s this life for
All the torment, images of all the pain
No end to the madness, tears falling like rain
It destroys every piece of your decrepit soul
Full of angst and anger you can’t control

How does it feel to be a martyr?
Despising everything that’s in store
You die for the sins cast upon you
Revenge for what they put you through
Cutting into the heart of despair
Just another cross you will have to bare

How does it feel to be a martyr?
Asking yourself why even bother
You hate everything that’s inside
And you despise what you cannot hide
But what can you do, what can you say
Why can’t this suffering just go away

But they wanted to show what they see
Things about them that will never be
So you suffer for their mistakes
And every lie drives home another stake
Now you’re crucified upon heaven’s door
So how does it feel to be a martyr?

Fear destroys the mind, depression destroys the soul... only love and compassion may save you from death.

Ok...umm. Wow!!

Let's do this slow.

This is good, very good.

I think you really captured the essence of the martyr complex.  The one where the person thinks they have to take everyone elses mistakes upon themselves.

I would know, I have this problem.  It feels like everything is always your fault.  Someone's pissed, it must have been something you said.  Someone is having a bad day, what did you do wrong?  Could you have done something differently?  Then you start wondering why your ruining everyone elses time.

This piles up to lead you to dislike and hate perceived weaknesses in yourself.  Weaknesses that don't really exist.

I'm wondering if you know someone like this or feel this way yourself?
