(A/N: I once believed in love, but no longer do so. Last week, I was talking to someone I have had feelings for since last December and then in the conversation she asked me if I met her boyfriend. I've been in agony since that day and this poem expresses it all. I paraphrase Lawrence Frost in the start of the poem. And I also paraphrase Scott Starbuck toward the middle.)

Broken Heart or A Shy Romantic Venting...

I am as a dolphin born into a concrete pool.
Who knows of nothing better.
Yet yearns for the open sea.

I am a man, isolated and lonely.
Who really has known nothing better.
Yet yearns for love.

Perhaps the kindness of a young lass.
Awakened some long dead feeling inside me.
I got to know her well, as day and month did pass.

Then I found her heart was already taken.
And to the lonely and cold path was I foresaken.
I hurt so badly tears do not flow free.

My constant facade of happiness conceals much.
To me even the slightest touch.
Made me feel I was something special.

But alas and alak, not to be.
Only hurt and suffering are for me.
Even lonely I'm friendly.

My smile and laughter run free.
When I see her, my world feels light.
My troubles are gone.

Then when she is with him, something inside dies.
No one to console me in my tormented cries.
But I will go on.

I will endure and function.
But not with the great zest and zeal.
Sadly due to pain I feel.

there is always room in life for love and sounds like you need some so i love the poem and im not just sayin this to try and help you feel better.... the amount of emotin you put into this piece.... she must have meant alot to you. i hope you find someone at some stage that will mean the same or even more to you. keep up the writing.

i have known every feeling you have displayed with this poem.i felt the same way about love for the longest time. but there is always someone else. trust me on this.

Poems free us and trap us all the same.
But still they put our hearts at ease.
