You're bleeding, no razor, no scars
locked away behind those bars
you're bleeding, you're fading, you're dying
why must you forsake his hand
choosing rather to bleed

Open your eyes
accept what you
never would see
he's reaching for you...

You're drowning, no water, no waves
suppressed by the daily dose of drama
engulfed by your own emotions
why must you forsake his hand
choosing rather to drown

Open your eyes
accept what you
never would see
he's reaching for you...

Finally, You look, to see him struggling, trying to reach
such desperation shadowing his face, he's been hurt too
such a resigned listlessness about him as he reaches for you
why must you forsake his hand
choosing to kill him too

You opened your eyes
accepting what you
never would see
he's reaching for you...
to pull him through.

Wow.

It takes a lot of wisdom, patience and understanding to be able to discern when someone is actually rejecting a helping hand offered lovingly, or simply a reacting to physical or emotional pain by "withdrawing".

Much to think about in this one, but the feeling of helplessness is what hit home for me.

Thanks for the read. I found it thought-provoking.

I can hardly believe the feelings expressed so vividly in this poem...It had to have taken forever to write so many thoughts on paper. Great job. I enjoyed it.
