Amaranth
By: Noah Eaton
1/21/04

Your presence is still felt here,
I wear it like a scarf in the dead of winter,
and if you never had me heard,
you were linden blossom and vetiver,
now I always feel you near,
your spirit never wants to leave...

Windshield wipers divide the tears,
gathering starlight all these years,
tucked away in this glovebox lung
is your palpitating undertone,
that last neroli song you sung,
the own you always rightfully owned.

My heart continues to bleed,
is it you I see or is it just me?
There's too many questions only God can paraphrase

Remember when you used to teach me how to cry?
Remember when I was scared and you were there by my side?
Remember when you said you had faith that I could fly
But inside it feels I've forgotten too much,
missing you...

Dovetail sweep across the roof,
the angels must have lowered the moon,
your smile has become iridescent,
the outlines become caliginous,
your stencil haunts me endlessly,
but you are divinity...

But my heart continues to bleed,
these fears just won't recede,
there's too many questions only God can paraphrase

Remember when you used to teach me how to cry?
Remember when I was scared and you were there by my side?
Remember when you said you had faith that I could fly
But inside it feels I've forgotten too much,
missing you...

Summer and fall are just memories,
and spring is so far away,
but holding your mirage hand,
I see you are amaranthine
Summer and fall are ashes,
spring is a distance from here,
but in my flower bed,
you are enduring...

Remember when you used to teach me how to cry?
Remember when I was scared and you were there by my side?
Remember when you said you had faith that I could fly
But inside it feels I've forgotten too much,
missing you...

Summer and fall are just memories,
and spring is so far away,
but holding your mirage hand,
I see you are amaranthine

Hi Noah,
This is simply lovely a song or would be a delight as performance poetry [have you tried that] your words are "songs"
take care richard.

Noah...
Beautiful poem/song, Loved the arrangement..:-)
One question...
What is the meaning of Amaranth in this poem?
I know the Amaranth plant that produces a high protien seed (mostly grown in the mideast, but I have used it as an ornamental)
But something tells me that it has a different meaning in your poem.
anyway, I enjoyed the poem

Awwwwwwww, thanks everyone for your wonderful comments, I love you all!

Ice: Amaranth is the name of an imaginary flower that never dies and lives twelve months a year, invented by a previous poet. It has grown to become the name of a purple-reddish flower and I used it as a metaphor for a loved one whose spirit will never be forgotten in me, like such that flower.

God Bless You!

Love,
Noah Eaton
