I see you sailing away,
comfortably ignorant today
of all the lessons
I have had to learn
in a long and strangely twisted life;
I know I cannot
simply give to you
insights born of strife,
the knowledge earned in blood and pain;
there is always loss
and seldom gain in cutting corners
in development and growth,
so now I'm left
puzzling the awkward feelings
of helping you create,
sort out
and bring to life,
your own destruction;
there is a lesson waiting for you,
like a bear
sleeping comfortably in a berry patch
waiting for its dinner to arrive,
by a trail which you will travel without fail.
What does it mean to me
since I am free to walk away?
I would prefer ignorance
to this torture of knowing
if I say please take another way
you will in this or in some future life
be compelled to walk this path,
and by that self indulgent act
of pseudo soft compassion
I will have tactlessly tied myself to you
with iron threads of karmic wrath.

You've no idea, Sir
how close to home this sits.

Although I know I had to read
it through.

Thank you, Sir.

The paths we walk are pre-determined and if not walked this time, they will be next...

So hard not to tie ourselves to someone we want to help...I do understand..

Powerful and true words...

A very strong poem, enjoyed reading it
