Near golden sunsets

0 posted 2004-01-20 10:20 PM

Her eyes woke me in the darkness.
I knew she was not there.
Her heart was surely thinking of me,
as mine was of her.

Perhaps it was the gentle lap
against a sandy shore,
but, again, I've found myself
retracing my sandy prints
gazing out to sea as the sun rises.

Despair at the last days of my leave;
I've only seen her in my dreams,
but still walking each street,
each stretch of beach,
hoping I will find her.

I know she is here.

I can feel her in my loins,
a precarious thump as each
heartbeat traces her across the city.
I know she is here,
but Hannah haunts me
as the ghost she is becoming.

-*-*-

Immortality is my illusion.

Some things can't be explained,
and we are content just knowing.

Good thoughts, I liked this a lot!!!

Perfectly worded to make the reader feel the loneliness...

Dang fine job!

Hannah haunts...
Yes, she does.
Well done, Philip.
