The King spent years upon crusade
While sorcerers some mischief made
Taunting whispers came to life
Casting much doubt upon his wife

Most souls did not want to believe
But spells were strong that did deceive
And messengers sent to the King
Did not, in fact, good tidings bring

At long last came the fateful day
When warriors arrived home to stay
The Queen wore rumors like a shroud
As the King paused among the crowd

Then from somewhere a voice rang out
"Let her speak now, remove all doubt!"
So modestly stepped forth the Queen
With saddest face he'd ever seen

"Cruel accusations I forswear
That thou should heed's too much to bear
Mine eyes hath not another sought
Believe this, sire, or life's for naught."

The King gazed into eyes so true
No evil could this heart e're do
As he gently grasped her hand
A darkness lifted from their land.

A great poem... sounds like you just watched the film about King Arthur!

I particularly liked the flow and balance

Well done on a great read

"The Queen wore rumors like a shroud"

Suthern,
I can't think of writing this any more
expressively or descriptive!  You did a beautiful job putting this poem together.  It is lovely.

Suthern beloved one, as always when you write I’m stunned at the sheer wonder and ability you have. I would say envious but the fact you are entirely too talented for me to be jealous of precludes that, besides which you are also one of my sweetest and dearest friends. Thank you for the beautiful way you present such art to my eyes darling one reading you is always a pleasure. And the wisdom in this beauty is simply awesome I love it darling one

(sigh) Who knows what other miracles and blessings spontaneously burst while the poems load up, they are probably where we least expect it but the whole world revolves around the poet! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Suthern, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

suthern lady, my friend, this is amazing.
(and I also echo all of the above...)

Also, I love all the truths you sprinkled around in
here, like these.......

"Cruel accusations I forswear
That thou should heed's too much to bear
Mine eyes hath not another sought
Believe this, sire, or life's for naught."

The King gazed into eyes so true
No evil could this heart e're do
As he gently grasped her hand
A darkness lifted from their land.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a world without gossip and rumors?
Love ya, sweet lady,
