.
Twas the wolf that drew her here
To the glen of lightening shade
Led in the voyage by the raven
Was the lovely Starlynade

She heard her lover was lost in battle
His blood spilled at Evil’s Keep
And thence she could not rest
Til she saw, herself, his final sleep

Her heart cried out in horror
At the thought that he had died
For the blood of passion’s lovers
Within her breast did still reside

Their hearts had beat as one once
In peaceful silent loving grace
But she would n’er rest again
Til she gazed at his ashen face

They loved as only the chosen do
With a fiery heat born of desire
Now she would travel to earth’s end
To see the quenching of her fire

A light shown in a village anon
The weary wolf would venture no more
The raven roosted in gnarled yew
As Starlynade approached a cottage door

A woman of uncounted years
Drew the weary maid into the room
Bid her sit before the warming fire
That quelled not the cottage gloom

A stirring caught Starlynade’s eye
In the corner pallet of bloodied sedge
Lay her lover Lord Branniston
Holding last light of life on edge

She quickly drew o’re to him
And touched his fevered brow
‘rest my love, for I tend to thee
Starlynade is with thee now.’

“how come you here?” he whispered
‘tis dangerous for maid alone
what madness drew you to this place
where blood flows upon the stone’

‘The raven and your wolf sire
knew my heart would never rest
until I held you one last time
against my loving breast’

Lord Branniston did not die
His lady tended him with care
Many days passed until they
Could leave the cottage fair

the raven, the wolf and the voyagers
Journeyed silently through enemy terrain
And found solace in the land of their birth
Where they would ever remain.

Wonderful story, Sharon!!  The ache of the beginning made me think it would not be happily ever after, but you made it perfect from beginning to end.

Thank you all!!! I've already had permission from Jeff to post this. I wanted to make sure it was ok to use his member name this way. (But the graphic is a surprise!)

Thanks!

Thank you Devine. I am still speechless! I have to say that the dousing of the candles on the cake could not bring forward a much better gift than the gift bequeathed to me this morning.

To have the art within you bestow such a favor to my name is more than a thank you can ever suffice.

I am thankful for your friendship and will keep this write with me so that I may be reminded of my blessings and the circle of friends that I am gifted with.

Always your friend and with the utmost respect for your talents and kindness.

Late as usual, but I have to agree with Jeff here, your talent and kindness to others is certainly what shined in this piece Sharon, absolutely incredible work.

And, since RWV helped me find this jewel of yours, I think it only fitting that it goes back up to the top so everyone can read the entire saga as penned by two of the shiniest artists here!

PdV...this is incredible...thank you!
