This is my first foray onto a forum devoted to this particular form of literary expression, and I hope to start posting at least semi-regularly, whether with new work or just commenting on that of others.  Anyway, L8R G8Rs

******************

Am I the man I want to be?
And if I'm not,
Then how do I change me
Without leaving what is good to rot?

Sometimes it's hard to see
All the different things
That are all a part of me

I want to feel proud
But what have I got?
I want to touch a cloud...
But why not!?!

I swirl endlessly and tumble
In a nightmare of my making
All my life is a jumble
And I feel as though I'm just now waking

I want someone to hold,
Someone who fits me like a glove.
Someone worth more to me than gold,
Someone I could love.

I can't handle this at all!
This life is too much...
So watch me as I fall
You know I just can't handle this...

I can't reach out;
No one can help me down.
I'm far too proud,
I have to do this on my own

I cannot face the man that I've become,
And at the same time I must.
No matter what is done,
I'll not simply turn to dust.

As I look at the world that is my life,
Rain pours onto me and I smile.
I remember something that I like:
It can't rain all the time.

Just as the rain, sunshine is not endless either, in one particular location, hence the questions in your writing.

Welcome to Pip, I think you're gonna like it here!

Welcome to Passions!,,,
I did enjoy this post!

I cannot face the man that I've become,
And at the same time I must.
No matter what is done,
I'll not simply turn to dust.

wow,,,,these words ring true!
a favorite saying of mine is,,,,
"No matter where you go,,there you are"
you just cant get away from yourself,,,so, you may as well deal with you!

Again, welcome to the PIP family, and I will look forward to more work

Welcome to Passions.  Good first write.  You know, the rain sometimes turns into puddles of water which when observed can reveal images of ourselves -- that's what your poem made me think of.  Thanks!

Welcome to Passions. Take your shoes off and stay awhile. Unless you have foot odor and then I would suggest that you stay, but yea those shoes will have to stay on. *nods*

I love the piece. Thank you for the read and I hope to be reading more from you soon.

(big angel hugs) I can understand how you feel too well, as I am 20 now and thus am also only beginning to become a man but I want to live with the spirit of the boy in me forever as that is where true happiness is found! God Bless You, this is a heartfelt debut! Welcome to Passions, sweet friend, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your wonderful words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
