“Walking amongst angels”

My arm outstretched,
And with a guiding hand,
To touch the air,
To breathe the land,
The warmth of the sun,
Bright coloured raybeams bouncing off my face,
Solitude in my mind has always been a place,
Reality the experience of existence,
Feelings displayed to look but not to touch,
Emotions so clear you can read them like a book.
Do you see my inner lining?
It is woven with a twist,
And like all of those before you,
I now no longer exist.
Like a lone heart in an open minefield,
Quickly washing the tears away,
The truth becomes a vision,
So bright and full of promise in a way,
And with my feathered wings, made of silk and of gold,
I am floating high above you,
Do you try and grab hold?
My breathing so shallow,
One heartbeat at a time,
My body so loose,
My pulse barely in line,
Is this heaven?
Or the end of mankind?
A family to leave,
But always in mind.
And if anyone should ask,
Or enquire of me,
Just tell them the story,
Of how it all went,
That I’m walking amongst angels,
And that I was heaven sent.

Who we are, and who people think we are can leave the space between sky and earth sometimes.
Flying offers the best overview...
