where the wild flowers grow

0 posted 2004-01-12 10:28 AM

I've chosen one hand to hold.

One set of lips to kiss, tenderly,
and eyes to look upon as closed and sleeping,
in the silence of morning.

I do not trust romantic ponderings,
as I do not fall for the stories.

If I were to admit my hatred for you,
it would be admitance of my love all the same.

So what do we have in store but snowfall,
sliding on the ice and falling,
bruises that won't heal,
scrapes that burn perpetually..
Tears that never cry themselves apart from
my eyes, and which hand will I hold as
I'm dying?

Would you still love me if I lost my grace,
acquired a tired body with age,
lost my words and my mind ..Would you
still care if I never allowed my heart to mend
from the past's gashes that roll
like pearls across my skin?
If I
never looked at the sky again,
or could not reach you from afar..
Would you still gather me in your arms after
years of knowing each and every seed
of thought I'd been sowing,
would you still indulge in my pools
that blink with the darkness of decades
of pain?

I am unsure of this wisdom I've supposedly
obtained..
Masses of flowers bending at my feet,
and I wonder why the wind blows
so violently when I have chosen
one hand to hold..

Is guilt a folly of man, do I ask and grow curious
by the way you've chosen to walk away...

But peeking through the trees
is the light that once felt like fire..

Would you come back .. if I let you walk alone..

All these changes you speak of happens to everyone. The hand you hold ages as you do.

The grip may change,,,,,,but, to know that hand will always be there,,,,,what better
As for falling on the ice, and the pain there of,,,,,I like this metaphor,,,,,,again,,,,that hand will be there to keep you from falling,,,,,or even to help you up,,,,so long,,,as you keep your grip as well,,,,,good write

there is such a fine line between the love and the hate

every line you've written here I can understand and feel inside me

every question you've pondered, I have asked myself

awesome work!

Meg~

I have so missed your words...

They read like poetry should.

for fear of the fall
again
If you sought your own warmth
curled into a ball
what then?

Who hasn't ever wondered [perhaps not so eloquently] this very thought?  I have a dear friend who sent this to me and for that, I know I shall never completely walk alone.

Megan...magnificent!

i find real courage to be truer than love, the latter could not truly exist without the former........this was inspiring.
