Listening to every heart

Don’t know what bothered me more,
whether sensing she discerned me
or having to stand a distance,
wondering exactly
what she was searching for.

Validity, perhaps.

Not everyone understands another’s mind,
or wanderings thereof,
when one expresses desire,
adhering strongly to
their dream,

even if it is just writing.

Somehow, she had discovered me in my travels,
somewhere between her knowledge
of Iambe and the others.
She would not let go
of knowing me just a little better.

I would say it should have been easy
to let her slip by me, not that she mattered at all,
no, it shouldn’t have mattered at all
until she stared at the wall

and I did not expect her tears.

She felt more than saw the splash of color
as her mind fled back decades,
her own model set by assignment
when she first studied Aztec, Inca, and Mayan.
She held her breath

stacking sugar cubes rubbed irregular
to show “stone”, in form of these very temples,
then laid down the sacrifice
in color like this,
shaking her head that anyone could sacrifice
youth for principle.

Now reddened streaks from another time
were not what she thought they could represent
but presented her soul, still,
with fresh waves of grief.

I saw her lift a hand to face,
too quickly streaking pain aside
as she felt the earth tremble underneath
in her silent world of intuition.

I had imagined it would be easy
to dismiss thoughts of others,
push them aside,
be done, it should have been
easy enough to watch her walk away.

Now I find myself
wondering of her life.

It is not that easy, after all.

I had to copy this after 5 reads to try and understand.

Like the style, delivery and words.

Very rough notes below, I hope you dont mind.

Dave

Am i an idiot
or what is she at.
do I have to be registered as a fool
if I express desire it seems to be screwing me up.
Knows I fancy her and I am showing attention, she is letting me know she likes the attention.
and I did not expect her tears or her brain.
She held her breath
shaking her head that anyone could sacrifice
sex for principle.
but presented her soul, still,
with fresh waves of grief.
I saw her lift a hand to face,
too quickly streaking pain aside
as she felt the earth tremble underneath
in her silent world of intuition.

I had imagined it would be easy
easy enough to watch her walk away.

Now I find myself
wondering of her life.

It is not that easy, after all.

I found your words deep thoughtful

Quite simply I liked them and their depth a lot

I felt this was a lot of things

Do you see what happends when the moth aint around.

Me thinks its about time ole Konnie-boyeeee lit a fire under her!!

Sunshine, this was amazingly interesting to me as I have visited some of the ruins which you wrote of her and had the same thoughts -- those blood stains......        lots of love & hugs

No....it is not that easy...something I know only too well. But I feel blessed by many things...including this poem.

Always a pleasure to read your muse.  It sounds like your trip was both lovely and worthwhile.  KJ

Exactly, Sy.  Sometimes we have to allow ourselves to view all the edges, just to make sure the world is round.

Thanks, everyone, for following the series.
