White out in Portland

I’m deep in my igloo
Struggling with a frozen keyboard.
Echos of keystrokes bounce off snowbanks,
Clattering like light machine gun fire.
Frustrated cursings resonate
With a deeper voice than I have.

Shingles and treelimbs quiver
Like tuning forks, conducted
By a rogue virago, standing
In for Mother Nature.
Crows slide on frozen snow
while autos don wrinkles.

Cross country skiers cavort
on trails of neighborhood streets.
Children, freed from school’s tedium,
gambol in weather hookey.
Rhododendrons droop
with ice-lined eyebrows.

Buses, like swollen sardine tins,
wobble through the slush.
Merchants eye their doors
that do not open.
Travelers pack the restrooms
while frozen aircraft watch.

liked this... the images and the flow all add to the overall "mood" of being snowed in...

This is great. I've never seen snow, and you've showed it to me in full force. Thank you. Now I know I probably never want to see it;-)

I've heard of snow days where you just don't move, everything shuts down....

my brother sent me some pictures of the last great snow in Virginia...covered the tops of the cars in the parking lot

I'm so glad I'm in Florida

Great imagery in this, Kayjay.  I heard it was snowing up there.  I'd like to see a bit of it here...a very tiny bit!

The sunshine folks are checking in
with words of awe and praise.
But also they are very glad
that they don't have these days.
For all who sent their kindness here
I welcome them with all good cheer.  Ken

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Oh my, and Ken, I'm the one that's
always wanting to see the snow that you and
Nancy Lee write about. Now, this may be just a
little too much snow. LOL I guess I'll
just stick to the sand. LOL

(big hugggsssssss) Oh my gosh, I heard about that peculiar Pacific storm two weeks ago, all the way from Seattle to Las Vegas! (giggles) I am moving to Portland May of 2005 and I guess I can't be sure I'll be free from the snow entirely now when going there, where I've been told it rarely snows here! God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ken, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
