One who's untouched
As pipes wail the dirge
Of a Scotsman's last mile
Where echoes invoke memories
Of other walks with other burdens
And the smell of heather
Somehow seeps through pines...
That one is without a soul.
Through the sobs of grieving
Come whispers of welcoming laughter
As old friends reunite
Beyond the realm we see
Leaving hope that hereafter
Isn't mirage or myth
But promise.

Oh this is fine! I can absolutely see it, hear it. Well done, lass! Well done indeed.

I hope to see more from you. You're one of the best here, always a pleasure to read, and you seem to get better with each one you give us.

Ah Laura, you look fine in blue! You should wear it more often....

I remember when you posted every day for a while -- how 'bout you do it again?

Suthern, this is wonderful!  With your permission, I would love to send this to my husband's parents as an e-card. It's been one year since our sweet Scottish grandma passed away, and I know they would appreciate this tremendously in her memory. I can still hear the piper's song as we walked out to lay her to rest. What a beautiful piece this is ... beautifully written.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Beloved one what can I say but this is truly exquisite writing that sound will always evoke a yearning to be home to me. Not that I’m Scottish I’m as English as can be, but that sound is so haunting, so stirring it always speaks of hills and coming home.

YOU have such an amazing ability, what can I say but your talent is shining beloved it really is. Sending heart hugs and warm smiles to you this cold and chilly night. (Tomorrow will not be either cold or chilly, so I send you the loving warmth from then too)
I love it as always
Love and warm stuff
as always

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds

And promise it is, one never to be broken as others are... when I saw your name I knew it would be a poem to remember, and this GRITS (Girls Raised In The South) chick of Scottish descent would love to keep a copy    Ya done good, girl

Nothing makes a poem more impressive than injecting a special "flavor" into the lines. You have certainly done that here....very impressive write!
