Iambe put the book face down
and stared at its spine
as if she waited for it
to wriggle off the table
or to simply disappear
while she watched.

I saw the small frown
begin as lines
in the corners of her mouth
then transform into
a bit of a puckered downturn
telling me she disapproved
of something she had read
and I was going to hear about it
probably in the same breath
as she reminded me of the things
she didn't like in me.

I tried to rise quietly
and slip out the door
before she spoke
but, her eyes left the
supine book to pin me
butterfly like against the wall
as she began to talk.

"This story",
she began,
"Is stupid"

My hand couldn't quite reach
the door knob from the place
she had skewered my arms
with the daggers shot from
eyes now intensely annoyed

"How so?"
I asked
knowing better
but still having the question driven
out of my throat as the weight of
what this would lead to landed
square on my chest.

"It's like you."
She continued
'Impossible"

then turned,
picked the crippled book from the table
and placed it back on the shelf
and began looking for another

I noticed the strand of hair
that fell on her face
and knew impossible
fit well

Impossible?

Not sure that is possible...

Oh sometimes I am so reluctant to put my thoughts to paper as surely it will convince "them" that I am not all there...

You are the master, Ron...and I thank the higher power that you are my friend...and that you write...

If you are Impossible then I am just ornery incarnate Cpat. Love the poem.

Always a million miles out there, and home, at the same time.

Now that
is impossible..

Except for the exception.

Bravo, for defying the laws.

Cleaning out the attic were ya???

I'd have to say that Iambe isn't one I'm want to argue with...often.
Certainly not on this point!

But then, I enjoy impossible....

Ron...it is this way of yours, of seeing into the emotions between people, that makes your writing so appealing.  Well done!

About time!  Speaking of time, got time to write us a story in Prose?  I love her, she has spirit, and is my kind of girl!  Impossible indeed!

I'm with Karilea... timely indeed and a keeper.

Always a pleasure Ron.
