state of confusion

All the birds from this nest are broken,
each with its own memory of falling,
imprinted as sure as mother’s sweet song
and father’s long ago familiar scent.

Startling starlings with eyes brimming
their stories plain in the telling,
spill, they do, onto every branch
where bones are splintered within tufted wings,
all directions leading in a circle.

Beaks too small for full throated birdcall,
their tunes are softly contained and strained,
a gathering of feathers together
sews them briefly whole, wholly holy.

This is a powerful write. There is hope in the end when there is awareness of holy wholeness ... may this brief moment last.

Yet, every feather counted.
You reminded me of several things...
all of them life-shaping.

But that is what a writer should do.

How's the book coming, Corinne?  [My baby is in the hands of my editor... ]

You write artistically not only with your pen but with a painters brush. A beautiful write. Thank you.
