History of The Old Wooden Bridge

The old wooden bridge hidden in swirling mists.
Covered with moss and dying leaves.
Has a history of centuries to tell.
Sit and listen quietly to the stories of the old wooden bridge.
The colonies fighting for freedom the year 1776.
A young farm boy and the girl of his dreams-
Meeting upon this old bridge dedicating their undying love until the end of time.
The young boy dying of small-pox-
The girl coming to this old bridge in distress
Tears of sorrow, inconsolable
Watching the turbulent waters below
Taking her young life
At night when all is quiet you can hear her mournful cry.
You weep with her pain, you weep.
The year 1829
Wagon trains traveling west, taking hopes and dreams to a better place.
Wagons slowly moving across the old wooden bridge.
A few of the old wagons to heavy-
Tossing treasures off the old wooden bridge.
These treasures a part of the past traveling in the turbulent waters below heading
to the oceans of the future.
The year2003
A young husband and his young wife
Crossing this old bridge, a baby to be born.
The old worn out car comes to a sputtering stop.
Anxious and frightened.
What will happen on the old wooden bridge?
Listen!
If you listen to the wind you will hear a new life being born.
A new life born on the old wooden bridge.
This old bridge was made to last a lifetime.
Imagine the history and the tales we will tell in the wondrous year of 3050.

Love Bon-Bon

What a wonderful write, Bonnie!  I love the way you brought me through time and then sent me onward.  Your three stories captured me.

One has to be able to see into the past, to know there will be a future.  Well done, Bonnie.  You made me want to repost one of mine, about an old bridge...

Very well done!
