The Choosing

clothing hangs in lines of lines;
customers try them on, try them on
and sometimes one takes one
but all, most, almost all unchosen,
casually dropped where faithful clerks
return them, waiting for a sale

somewhere souls try flesh,
slip it on and when they’re done
they drop it casual as discarded cloth,
leaving us to put them down in lines of lines,
return them, praying for a sale

we the chosen

Profound.  You seem to be able to take the simpliest things and turn them into parables!  As always, I enjoyed!  lol

By the time I recognize this moment it will be gone,

The lightheartedness of the first verse had me shuddering at the thought of shopping... then those shudders turned to shivers of awe as I read the rest... *S* Nobody, but nobody, does a metaphor better, my friend. *S*

I'd gladly risk arrest if I could shoplift your talent! *S*
