ELIZA:

“ ... You see, really and truly, apart from the things anyone can pick up (the dressing and the proper way of speaking, and so on), the difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she's treated.
I shall always be a flower girl to Professor Higgins, because he always treats me as a flower girl, and always will; but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat me as a lady, and always will.”

— George Bernard Shaw, Pygmalion

"Madam? Would you have my seat?"

me?

I thought that I would I die...

but no, he offered me reprieve

g'wannnnnnnnnn

(my scarf is not my sleeve)

and I'll not confuse the two.

"Have a spot of tea?"

he smiled

I thought that I would I die...

he said each word he said kindly

g'wannnnnnnnnnnnn

but no, he never meant me harm.

"Liza? You are Beautiful!"

me?

I thought that I would die...

I smiled at Colonel Pickering

and birthed a lady in his eyes,

knowing nothing else could be...

not for Colonel Pickering--

a specialist...in flowers.

Smiling here, at you, genteel lady of the blue parchment poetry pages.

What a cool, right on the mark write!

Hugs and thanks to Ron, and to you, Karen.

Inspired not only by the gentleman--but most especially by listening, Professor Higgins-style, to how the Ladies of Passions talk!

For you, Ronnie-baby!

"and birthed a lady in his eyes"

loved that line...

reminds me of how many different things I have "birthed" in the light of how someone was treating me...

Karen, you always hit it square..

and yes, to all--

The reason there are Colonel Pickerings are because they put not expectations on those they touch.  The reason weeds become someone else's rose is all in the tendering of that plant, and you m'dear are a rose in all counts, and he indeed is one of few Colonel Pickerings.  I kinda luv that Colonel myself in my own way.

Karen, when you speak your heart, we have no choice sometimes but to stop breathing, read, inhale your words, and learn from them.  Write a book!

Serenity,

I thought that I would die...

I smiled at Colonel Pickering

and birthed a lady in his eyes,

knowing nothing else could be...

   I married a Colonel!

Wouldn't it be luvvly

Picking the flowers he looked at
Colonel Pickering bent his elderly head
and laid a shilling into my hand

For being a good girl he said
And if I'm not a good girl

Why
Half a crown
My dear

Do you want a ball (of chalk - walk) down the toad (frog and toad - road) Colonel

Dave
