Suspended In Time

The image of a man walking towards me,
is so familiar and yet so new.
Holding my joy close to my heart,
I face the fear of what may not be.
His unsure eyes search mine for the answer
that only time would give and he smiles.
The first touch, the brush of the cheek,
the gentle kiss had all but been forgotten.
But the sleeping memories, undisturbed and silent
for so long are suddenly awakened.
For a precious moment time stands still,
a small gift of eternity just for us.
In slow motion we relive the scene
that has always been a part of our memories.
Then selfish time moves on as unforgiving life
forces his image to fade away.
He is suddenly gone
and I smile through the tears.

*sigh* tears of joy and sorrow mingle...joy for the magic of the time spent and sorrow as he disappears from your arms...Stunning...I love every word...

Thank you, everyone. I wanted the ending to be bittersweet...what could I have said differently? Midnitesun, I wrote A Freedom So Dear. It is a first work but from my heart.

This poem is very poignant.  A longing is there that seems almost palpable.  Very well written.  I sincerely hope this wasn't written about 'Deer or Toe, as they swagger around too much already, lol.
