Minerva, the Garden Spider

she tatted lace
with style and grace
across the arbored way
then sat right down
with nary frown
and waited for her prey

patience was her virtue
as she silently lay
for knitting there
yet most aware
she planned for later days

tiny socks of spider silk
a layette filled
with spider’s milk
was the goal
that kept her sane

eating for a multitude
filled her with
much gratitude
when flies and gnats
came out to play

the luscious hoard
sated well her gourd
and brought
glory to her day

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Well suits her the name Minerva. She is trusting in her talents.
And the goddess inspired you beautifully.
Love, Margherita
