Memoirs of The Heart

The heart never forgets
What it once embraced a friend---
That comrade sometimes feared and despised
But often times just misunderstood;
For when the storms of sadness turn the skies black
That embattled friend is a ray of joy,
Blowing kisses that would calm the roughest seas
While offering words of strength that give men courage.

The heart never forgets,
What it has lost---
To lose is often not to regain
And for some the pain is eternal,
Aching like the stomach of a hungry man
Or thirsty like the dessert flower---
Always fighting but finding a way to survive.

The heart never forgets
What it has learned about love,
It knows that love taste of bitter fruit
But is washed down with the sweet waters of passion;
It knows that love can leave with the sleep of silence,
Leaving only a trace of dampness on the other pillow;
It knows that love is forgiving
But it never looks back.

Marcel

so true! a really touching poem!

turning mirrors upside down won't make dust fall off the ground, hiding wounds won't ease the pain, sleep won't make you whole again...

Hello marcel

You have graced these pages of blue with an exquisite piece of writing.  I was so very moved by your words.

"It isn't what you have
in your pocket
that's important
but what you have
in your heart"

Take care........Sue

I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Very touching beautiful write!
The heart knows that love IS, listen closely.
No need to look back, while LOVE is in the Now, let the heart rule ... it knows.

Love, Margherita
