The Vine

I am a grape upon the vine
Stomped and pressed into a wine
Crushed beneath the grime and feet
And bottled into liquid heat

I’m now an aphrodisiac
To smoke the mind to haze and lack
To mark and edit the exist
To change the color of the mist

And this I do with faulty glove
And fly the dove of faulty love
A drink of equilibrium
A conundrum of axiom

Although at times I can revive
And make the subject feel alive
Bring a subtle attitude
To grant a little latitude

So drink me if you feel the heed
But limit it to just the need.

Nothing longer lasting
than a grapevine of time, Sy...
Smiling at your wit with pleasure
and realizing we still have so much
to learn from you.

Hi Seymour...love this piece. Excuse me I need to go get a glass of wine. (Snicker!) Just joking. Great piece of writing my friend. Made my morning.

Your telling me that they don't wash their feet before they stomp the grapes? (grime and feet)
ACK!
Now I know why I drink Coors Light...

once again a good un, ya know, you could write a bad one just once to make us mere mortal poets not feel so bad...

A tip of the glass to ya, (just one) and Happy New Year.

Very nicely done Sy~
I sipped each word so slowly,
as the need is to be.

Love the messages you send!

This is outstanding.
Why is it that the poets on this website have not mixed to create the best coffee table book money can buy?
