Softly, you spoke...
Subtle thoughts whispered.
The lightest breeze against a
silken curtain, stirring daintily.

It was not a dream that day when winds lay
calm upon the harbor’s waters.  When gulls
played merrily with morsels thrown by a
child.  When waters ever so lightly lapped
the shimmer of a sun’s rays...as I squinted
to see.

Hazy eyes catching the silhouette, as I turned
quickly to steal but a glance of what was,
but was not there.  My heart skipped once,
twice....again...as my lips trembled to taste
the softness of your shoulder..

Lying across the wooden slats of a dock,
warm rays relaxing me...my eyes closed,
dozing until...

The lightest kiss upon my cheek bringing me
back into today....but not even a creak of
board, a shadow gave away that which I
sought....for I was alone....wiping the
moistness from my face, knowing that
I had smelled a fragrance that called me,
beckoned me into sleep once again...

If I close my eyes, if I allow slumber to
carry me into the stars....will your brilliance
and beauty be there...awaiting my hand
to dance in dreams beyond the streams
of crystal flow...as waterfalls babble our
brook.

Still in sigh after the third read.  Mesmerizing poem, Barry.  Now, as I often do with your work, I am going back again.

Dang, man, you just keep getting better and better.

Can you still hear music of the stars
drift to you on a warm night
Does it caress with the softest touch
closing your eyes from any light

Does magic touch your heart with passion
burning like the stars so bright
Can you feel desire flow from a dream
coming close within your sight

*sigh* I just couldn't help myself....Your writing always brings out the romantic in me and makes me want to write....Absolutely Stunning....*hug*

Barry...What is real, yet not quite real, touches a place like a fabric you can see through to something else.  Is it real, or not?  I enjoyed this sensually lovely poem.
