~*~

I sat quietly beside my daughter and pushed play
quickly the years came rushing back
those first steps so long ago
the wide eyed wonder of childhood
spinning wheels around the cul de sac
before the fall.

Loose teeth, scraped knees
broken arms, a thousand tears later
hula dancing on the pool steps
my pride and joy
gracing the wind in her way.

My very own ninja turtle for so many years
jumping off the landing (any landing)
performing his donatello dive
swimming across the deep end
up to my arms, and away.

A little brother
who brought out the best
hey batter batter
catch me if you can
this ones for you
if you only knew.

Push pause and play it again
for old times sake
watch Mom, I can do it
as I knew they would without a doubt
tracing my memories
forever and always, with love~

Could see the wealth of the past play by in bubbles and laughter...repeat...an endless unstoppable hug.
Happy New Year.

I didn't know how deeply those videos would affect me.
But they did!  An unstoppable hug?  Yes,  it is all that.

Thank you Kathleen, and a Happy New Year to you.

Lori, my family was an "old fashioned" sort of clan - when we would all get together, a song fest inevitably erupted.  One year, one of our family members was not present, so Dad taped us all as the piano was played, we sung in our various voices, sometimes harmonizing, sometimes, not... Dad wished to make sure that member could be part of the "fun".  That missing member was my husband, and I still have that tape today.

Sounds to me as if now is as good a reason as any to pull it out and give it a listen.

Thank you for the memories!

I loved that. It makes me stop for a minute and think about my own daughter and how much I miss even if I'm only out of the room for a minute.
Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful

Memories

Loving is a beauty

can you write another poem

I have seen in my time enough nappies, not by my wife, I was just on hand.

Nice words, write the dark side of motherhood.

I love this!  What treasured memories.  My girls, 13 years and 4 years, just found a picture of their brother (who is 21 and away from home, studying for the ministry.)  They couldn't believe it was big brother (he was 8 weeks old in the pic.)  I remember a time when he was burying his Ninja turtles in the dirt outside...heaven knows why because he treasured those darn critters.  Gosh, you brought back some good stuff...great memories.

I forgot...did I tell you, I love this poem!

Needless to say, I was  having a moment with this,
but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks to each one of you for sharing this with me.

Would it not be great if we could do just that Lori, push rewind and live it all again?  Oh I think it would be exactly the same.  I really enjoyed this one.
