She was just ole mammy’s girl
Dancing to her own tune
Smilin’ for naught at all
They called her Liza June

She may have been a simple girl
But she held love for all
No hatred felt within her heart
She lived by an angel’s call

They taunted her with ferocity
But still her smile remained
Their slaps and smacks unfelt by her
No matter how much they pained

In a world that God gave to her
She smiled as she danced alone
Simple, yes, you could say she was
But she had no sin to atone

“Love ‘em all, I surely do”
she sang as her feet kept time
‘God gave us all roads to walk
and mountains tall to climb’

“And I will climb the tallest yet
with love for everyone
resting on the peak one day
I’ll know my work is done’

Liza June danced on and on
Touched lives with each smile
Touched heart with her bravery
As she walked pure down God’s mile.

There is a Liza June in all of us and I sure wish she would come out more often.  Well you know I do recall knowing a very little Miss Liza Dolittle once, and as she grew bigger, so did her heart.  Being simple sometimes is the best way to see this world I think.  Oh goodness I do believe you have me thinking here!  A lovely poem that carries a big message.
