Over the hill lies the dream,
Out of sight, but not out of reach,
The river of life meanders through,
Where it flows with the remains of stolen dreams,
With promises broke, that stabbed like a dart,
Into the heart where no one can see.

The river flows with the pain of desire,
Filled, not red with the blood of despair,
But clear, with the crystal tears of innocent times,
Where the dreams were lived and the promises made.

But over the hill lies the dream,
Just follow the river as it meanders through,
Ride the rapids of pain and despair,
Then disembark the raft of life,
For the journey will be over
And life will begin
Follow the river as it meanders through,
For the journey may be over before it begins

Thankyou all for your very kind words, i was a bit dubious about posting a poem on here as this is the first poem i have wrote and was worried by what reaction i may have got, but your responses have definatly given me the encouragement to carry on writing.

Thankyou

For a first post,  this is very well said,
saying so much....Rivers can be such a
great foundation for art such as this.

Welcome to Passions,  please continue to
post and enjoy our halls of blue.

I came away with the thought that a river is often at a  stand still
for reasons unknown to us, likewise it rushes on it's own when the need arises.

Kind of like the ebb and flow of dreams in a world we cannot keep.

beautiful pictures---my favorite was how you described the waters not as red and painful, but clear and innocent. awesome. nice parallels with life/dreams/river/hill

Welcome to Passions.

Beautiful, insightful poem. I especially love the above lines ... look at it as the situation of NOW.

Love, Margherita
