At first it seems oh so far away
We stood on one and looked out there
Mostly we looked behind to see
What was interesting from back then
We remembered and laughed and cried
We saw what had been not always knowing why
But ahead was even more difficult
Ahead was unclear and unknown and scary
So now we stand again with days gone by
Looking back and wondering what and why
But ahead there is another time to live
A time we don’t know just what will be
So each time we look back and see what has been
Here we are with some much ahead so much to begin
To love to laugh to hold to cry
We always seem to look back
We always seem to ponder what is ahead
But mostly love to look back
I wonder why

Excellent Paul...sometimes we need to stand back and 'remember' when.
All the best in 2004 to you and yours.

Paul, yes, memories. Looking back is not as fearful as trying to imagine what the future holds can be. Well done, enjoyed. Chris

Hi GoodKnight...must be in the air, because looking back was what I was doing today and I wrote "Why Did It All Begin?" If you get a minute give it a look, because it's like this looking back, and wondering you are talking about.

Happy New Year to you, and all you love!

Paul, that is a good question...I guess we look back
more because that is the known and where the good
memories are. I think the bad memories are what make
us fearful or apprehensive of the future and the unknown.

hmmm...good food for thought so to speak! I enjoyed this piece. The thought of looking back on the memories while anticipating tomorrow...sigh...very well done. Happy new year!

Beautiful words of contemplation here Paul, I enjoyed this so very much and could relate so well.

Paul...It seems like this time of year, many people are reflecting on the past and also wondering what the future holds.  You have expressed it well!

Well said, my friend. You speak thoughts I've had, and no doubt will have again, but may never express as well as you just did.
