Picture by Josephine Wall

* * *

Dedicated to my father who never
got to read any of my poetry but
who remains my constant source
of inspiration and love.

* * *

Things happen for a reason
This I know to be true
Through my words I found my calling
And they lead me here to you

Through your words of inspiration
My pen remains here in my hand
As I share my deepest feelings
Far and wide across the land

Like the warmth of the sun
I found comfort in you
Words gave my life new meaning
A ray of light came shining through

I felt my father with me
As I wrote every single word
I could feel his presence near
'tho his voice could not be heard

Through our words we are united
'tho distance keeps us apart
But you will always hold a place
Right here inside my heart

I've been on a wonderful journey
And I've found the real me
As I am lead by my heart
My words enable me to see

* * *

"The friends who listen to us
are the ones we move toward
and we want to sit in their radius.
When we are listened to, it creates us,
it makes us unfold and expand"

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Sue:  Maybe the gift of poetry was the last thing your dad could do for you?  Beautiful poem and somehow I think he shares everything you write.

Hi Sue ... a magnificent poem for your Dad and I know he 'reads' each one. Perhaps he is the one who gave you the gift to write such beautiful poetry. His final gift to you.

I love this picture and it is not one I have seen before!

Hugs my friend.

Suetang - this was lovely.  Really made me stop a moment this New Year's morn to remember my own Dad -- he would have liked it, too.  Congrats on 4000 and if I did not say it before, Happy New Year!

Sue

Love this poem....content and form....It reminds me of Longfellow.
Musical poems like this effect me deeply,  By banishing the harsh thoughts of my day, or night...makes them silently slip away

"And the night shall be filled with music,
And the cares, that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away."
(H.W.Longfellow "The Day Is Done")

Thank you, and by the way, see how your rhythm reflects Longfellows?

Excellent poetry sue....Happy New Year
