A Teardrop (?) From Webshots

~*~
When the actions and the words
are never the same
Then you begin to get tired
for it all seems like a bad game

He will tell you this and that
but the opposite he is doing
Then you are left wondering
what it is he is pursuing

He tells you that you are
the one he truly loves
But your emotions and feelings
he constantly pushes and shoves

It seems that he accomplishes
to hurt you every day
You begin to think it is intentional
for the hurt comes in every way

Now you are gone away
never to hurt me any more
I am trying to write this only
to push those feelings out of the door!!

This is about my deceased husband whose worse abuse he did to me  was emotional and verbal. I always feel reluctant to write about the abuse he inflicted because he is dead and I can't confront him face to face. But, sometimes I read a poem or see something on television or have a thought, and all the hurt comes rushing back. This abuse went on for almost 25 years.

My dear Love, now, is the complete opposite of him. Thank God, because I hope I never have to put up with that kind of abuse again. It leaves scars for years.

words and actions both hurt deeply

good to let it all go, and let the healing continue

People that do this..well it makes me wonder do they have a conscience? Is there EVER an ounce of remorse that crosses their being? I know it doesn't seem that way as a matter of fact it seems they take no responsibility, and blame all on the other people involved. I am so glad you are out of that, and your reward is your Gary. Any one that goes through this deserves that GOOD ONE that heals, and gives back all that was taken at will by the one that operates in their cherished maliciousness. I know of what you speak and prayer, reasoning, and begging for forgiveness for what offended..all sorts of things were tried to warm the soul of this one. Malice was too treasured accompanied with lies, so I hope for you all the best!
God Bless you sweet lady, and may the new year bring much more goodness to you, and your Gary, and to the ones that give to you their love.
Love,
Terri~

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender...Dido

Kacy, they sure do. And, the scars from
them stay for so long....
Thanks for reading.

Terri, thank you for understanding. I know, it's
hard to believe that someone would treat another
person this way on purpose, isn't it?
Thanks for reading.

Hugs to both of you,

the old adage that "sticks and stones may break your bones but words will never harm you"...doesnt hold water,,,,,,bruises to the skin heal,,,,bruises to the heart and self,,last a lifetime

That is very true, Michelle.
Words can never be taken back
once they've gone forth.

Awww, Dixie, I didn't put your name up  there because I didn't want you to feel bad. I'm sorry. Those feelings seem to come to the surface more during the holidays, anyway. No matter how mean someone is to a person, when they are together for so many years, there has to be some feelings...of some kind.
I was already thinking of him......mostly all of them were bad thoughts, though. Sad, isn't it, how someone can kill love?
Hugs, sweet lady.

A sad yet wonderfully powerful poem!  saddly expressing that what many people are going through both directly or indiretly.

those tender words that followed brought a smile, I wish you well, peace and happiness, Have a Great New Year!

Very well put. These are questions that are hard to negate, for out of love, why is there turmoil and why do these second thoughts exist when love begins as a nourishing light. Tis is a sad thing to see love begin grand only to be a memory that we wish away. I'm sorry. I love your work.

Yes, Steve, it is so sad that so many people have to endure this kind of abuse. It's one of the hidden forms of abuse, I think. The abuser usually doesn't do it in front of those outside of the family. Though, my late husband had begun to talk to me those ways in front of some of our friends, before he died. I tried to look over him because he was sick.

Thank you, Raven. It is very hard to understand why someone who loves another person does these things to them. It's not only between adults, but even so many children are emotionally and verbally abused, too. I think it sometimes has a lasting effect upon them, too.

Thank you both for reading and replying to my poem. I appreciate your nice comments.
Hugs to both of you,
Ethel
