Streaming Mists

One does not normally query the
winds of Kansas,
except when there
have been weeks without…
then to suddenly feel currents flowing forth,
finding favor in faces,
as clouds become high banks of
fog in float,
moments of eye-spy with the sun
seen through the mists,
and one can smell gulf waters
streaming in from the south.

It had been long enough in-between times
of Kansas winds kicking up,
as high layers of moisture seemed to pick up
the nuance of an artist’s brush
in mottled softness, layers of gray
demanding attention as they skirted
yesterday’s blue skies,
so much so,

that I knew I was receiving thoughts
from Konrad, sent by way of Galveston air-streams,
ready to resume the telling
of our adventures
once again.

waiting with tender ears

This morning there’s a calm
I can’t explain-
By the time I recognize this
moment it will be gone
I will bend light
pretending it lingers on

passing shadows

I'm so gald you are ready to continue, and I'm glad the wind sent my message to you.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

I am fascinated by the tales you tell Karilea,
it's as if you are writing in living color.

Not sure if it is Konrad or Kansas that inspires you, but it's all good!!

I can those wonderful color contrasts in your poem, Karilea - the deep grays against the soft blue.  You described this so perfectly.
