*This is my translation of a poem by Marina Tsvetaeva, orgininally written in Russian in 1915.

***

Two suns are cooling down, – God, forbid, I’m begging! –
In the sky, the first and in my chest, the second.

How these two suns – could my conscience ever forget? –
How these two suns were always driving me mad!

Both cooling down now, – their rays won’t hurt your eyes!
The one that burned the brightest is the first to die.
