~*~

Your breath was so close and even
tinting the night sky.

The stars fell like diamonds
that clung to icicles in the morning.

You didn't notice how the eaves sagged
or the strands of garland hung from four corners.

A quiet rustling to this day
reminds me of a softer glowing.

That pales in light of loving
and I miss you now.

There is only a layer of frost
melting on the lake.

Too thin to skate across
even though I believed it would last.

You had already gone
before the dawn lifted the fog.

~And gave way~

Sometimes smile, it just gives us the hint of love we need, then it walks away again.

Smile i enjoyed.

Lori...I have come to understand that some things are as fleeting as a sigh and leave the heart hurting with their goodbye...yet still the memory's sweet.

Jes~ Aww the hint of love is something to believe in, indeed.
Thank you for reading me.

Karilea~  Thank you for that, and for always being so good to me.
My best to you in the New Year.

Martie~ You always read me right, and that means so much to me.
However fleeting, it was the sweetness that inspired me this morning.
Thanks.

What a bittersweet beauty this is...
such lovely imagery...this is a IWIHWT!!!

I can remember Forever December,
The center of dying ... the heart of the pain.
The stars surround me ... the cold astounds me.

Amy~ The images were only half of what my heart was trying to convey.
I'm so glad you enjoyed, thank you.

vandana~ Thank you kindly~

Dear Margherita~ Thank you for your poetic reply,
As you said, the longing can be just as beautiful.

Ethel~ I wanted to write this with a tenderness,
and I'm so glad you noticed.
Thank you very much for your heart warming reply.

Ed~ It only hurts when it's done right!  lol~
Hmmm, I'm thinking you know me too well.

iliana~  What a nice thing to say.  Thanks

S. Arthur Grey~  That's exactly where I was coming from.
Between the thin ice and sun dappled breezes....Yes!!!
I'm not much of an ice skater anyway, something always gets lost
in the balance,  and it's a pain when I slip and fall.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

Beautiful and sad, sad and beautiful. Classic Lori. Hold these things lady, they're priceless; but be sure to release the things that aren't.
