Love Will Find A Way

I thought to find peace
Drawn in colors of the end of fall
Where I weave this familiar curve of road
My eyes dropping over the vale into the shadows
Searching for something left behind
From the ashes that were your life

Still the pine and the oak hold true
As if it was only yesterday that you flew
Their weathered watch keeps
As I watch a leaf twirl before my vision
Catching the sun in reminder to look up

There
six white doves
Strain the blue sky with a sieve of white
Tuning their timing to my need
Your cheeks the color of roses
When you were six and wrote your words
In big stubby lopsided letters of love
Spelling Merry Christmas
With white paint on blue paper

Is there something that I could say
That would stop the movement of this day
That curves so quickly into winter
Something that would hold me for a minute
By the cradle where you taught me
How big my heart could be

My peace is pining in the afterglow of years
Bucketed between surges of mourning
Where I would have you true and still
My child of the earth

Until I see the white wings
Disappear over the ridge and away
And the leaf continues its path to the ground
In an obvious display of the answer

Love will find a way

*Speechless and reduced to tears*
As Michelle lives on in your heart and memories..
we watch and can only pray we would be as brave and strong as you dear Martie.
Have a blessed Christmas m'friend...
and know Michelle is safe, and happy, always remembered, always loved.

Such love...such perfect love. Of course it will find a way. It already has, and the way lies open before your feet. Some day you will walk along it.

Martie
excellent poetry....

I love these words

"Still the pine and the oak hold true
As if it was only yesterday that you flew
Their weathered watch keeps..."

These brought a tear

"When you were six and wrote your words
In big stubby lopsided letters of love
Spelling Merry Christmas
With white paint on blue paper"

Thses show how strong a command you have of poetic art..

"My peace is pining in the afterglow of years
Bucketed between surges of mourning
Where I would have you true and still
My child of the earth"

As you can tell, I enjoyed this poem very much.

This would touch me deeply at any time... on a day that started with still more tears of loss and sweet remembrance, it gives the cleanse of peace. Simply magnificent!

Hello Martie

It was so obvious to see that these words came from deep inside your heart.  A beautiful dedication that was so very heartfelt.  I wish you much love and happiness in the New Year.

Take care......Sue

When love has left us,
living only in our memories,
The peace we find in contemplation
is revealed in our writing.

This is such a lovely piece, Martie, I hope your expression gave you rest.  Ken
