This relationship is highly problematic.
All we do is talk of academics
And you tell me that you doubt mathematics
Is the field that you should be pursuing
Since I solve most of the problems for you.
And perhaps, you’re right here, I won’t argue,
(After all, I do not wish to bore you)
But, like you, I don’t know what I’m doing
In the library each Monday night except
That I enjoy every time and don’t expect
Anything from you. I just accept
It (as a pastime, if you will) and don’t ask why.
I honestly don’t know. It makes me happy
To be of help and I sincerely hope you
Don’t come each night to simply sit and copy,
That you enjoy it just as much as I.
