I Met An Angel Who Drives A Bus

Winter weather was coming in fast that year.
My car broke down at the side of the road.
No cell phone, five miles away from home.
Ahead in the sleet and snow a bus parked, not new,
but old and rickety like that of childhood days.
Lights shining brightly, the driver,
already to go home.
Walking up to the bus, in snow up to my knees.
I gently knock.
The door slides open without a sound.
Sitting in the driver’s seat-
A man weathered, with twinkling eyes and a sparkling smile.
Hi! What are you doing out in this nasty weather?
My car broke down, and I’m trying to get home.
Is my reply.
Well missy this is my last run, I’m on my way back to the garage.
I know sir.
Would you please turn left and take me over the bridge instead of right going to the expressway?
He sits and gives me a look of well............
Let me call in and see.
Ok missy I can take you over the bridge.
Thank you. Is my reply.
The road ahead covered with ice,
snow blowing in an angry rage.
Bad night for you to be out missy.
Yes I know. Is my reply.
As we move slowly ahead,
the turn off to where I live.
I think, only two more miles and I will be home safe and warm.
Well missy. How many miles down those back roads do you have to go?
Two miles. Is my reply.
Well missy. I have come this far I’ll take you a little farther.
The blizzard now upon us in full force.
This is my corner sir.
How far from here missy do you have to go?
About four blocks. Is my reply.
Well missy I’lltake the next street and cut back.
But sir, how will this bus get down these narrow streets?
Don’t worry missy been driving for years don’t you worry none.
Right to my doorstep he did drive.
Watch your step. Is his reply.
As I run up the step,
I hear the beeping sound as he backs down the snow covered road.
As I open the door my little dog already to go-
I turn to wave good-bye.
No sound only the wind and the pounding sleet hitting the windowpane.
No bus in sight, no lights, only the sound high above the chimneys tops.
The tinkling of bells and these heavenly words.......Missy you are home safe now.
Ho-Ho-Ho Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

Love Bon-Bon
