I know all the places
You should be,
When you should be there.
But when I look to them
I find only spaces
You’re not where you should be
You’re not anywhere.

I wake each mourning
But keep my eyes closed
Against waiting reality
Pretend as long as possible
Your face will greet me.
How could such a small being
Leave so much empty?

Good poem,
Perhaps the size of the missing is not the body’s size
But the heart and spirit of the one that’s gone

Awwww, Laura's making me sad with this pretty poem.... You've got me looking around for Shadow even though she's been gone from us for a long time.

Chin up, lady...you've still got her where it counts.

Professor: You're absolutely correct... and in those, she was giant. *S* Thank you! *S*

Ratleader: Making you sad is never my intention, my friend... but yes... I know you know. *S* And she'll indeed be in heart and mind forever.... but how these arms miss her. *S*

Come here you They leave such a big hole because of the unconditional way in which they love, and when we lose that it hurts like hell!  Get it out, that is what grief is for, to reach a place where you remember the laughter.  Feeling your heart girl, feeling it big time.

Aww suthern, I know that feeling and it hurts so bad!
Your words went straight to my heart and they are precious ones.

Give it time little sister, and keep the memories alive,  because no thing and no one can take those away from you.

Love and hugs to you, Hon~

Toerag: Those "full of life" memories keep getting sogged up by my endless supply of tears. *S* But they'll never fade... and the deluge will eventually stop. *S* Thank you, my friend.

*sigh*

wish I had something witty and wise to say, knowing full well words fall short next to the feelings.
How bout a hug from a tardy moth?

Sweet suthern, I do understand how you
could feel this way about your loving pet.
In fact, your other poem inspired me to
write this one about my little dog, Scooter.
/pip/Forum83/HTML/001387.html

I honestly don't know what to say to make you feel
better. I don't know if there are words to feel
the loss of the love.

SmartChick: I'm so sorry, lady... HUGS... and thank you!

Seymour: If only we big 'uns carried a proportionate amount of love in us. *S* Thank you, my friend. *S*

RSEvans: Hearthugs can still reach around. *S* Thank you so much... I appreciate both! *S*

ecrivan: It's tough to not simply shout "bah, humbug." *S* But this season is supposed to be about love...and she gave that in too much abundance for me to respond with bitterness. *S* Thank you!

JM: Can't think of anything I'd like better. *S* (unless it was a hug from Mr. Wonderful? *G*) Thank you! *S*

GG: Thank you so very much. *S* Your kindness is appreciated. *S*

Martie: Thank you!

garysgirl: I love your poem for Scooter... please give him a hug for me! *S* Whenever we lose love, it devastates... but how lucky we are to have it at all. *S* Thank you!

I went looking for this...because last night I had another "Shadow Moment" and it brought me the memory of this poem. She's been gone for two years, but still, once in a while my eyes want to put her where she would be at that particular moment.

There is such a condensation of pain here in your words born in your mourning heart.
