               Winter 2003

               Solstice
                    dark
               Bird song gone
                    even crows
                         silent

               Enjoy the cold
                    while it lasts
                         and the bright white snow

Tell them what it was like
               They won’t know
                    when it rains instead
                         maybe won’t care

               Cookies, caramels
                    fats we no longer need
                         for our built-in greed

               Against the dark
                    we light our fires
                         with their forests’ remains

               We are the new dinosaurs

Interesting poem but I still liked it.

Mr. Krawdad,

Your words will not leave me soon.  A very thought provoking piece and the final line...Wow...I know I will discuss this poem and thought behind it with my friends and co-workers.

Thanks for making me think.

Julie,
Patricia,

Thanks for your interest.
Events that we don't control, like the solstice, remind me of what we have lost control of.
Perhaps I should be posting in the "dark" forum . . .

loved that ending
though it's a painful truth

perhaps we deserve the same fate?

Good punch at the end, I agree, we have created a painful truth...  What happened to your picture???  ~K~

iliana,
Thanks for commenting.  The alias is a letter scramble of part of my "real" name.  (wish I had a more exciting story . . . oh, maybe I should make one up . . .)

Hi Dixie,
You are much too kind, but thanks, I'll take it.

Kacy,
Glad you liked.  You know, sadly, I think we can't help ourselves.

Kahlil,
Thanks.  And the pic?  Well, I got tired of looking at myself every time I showed up here.

(big hugggsssssss) It seems it's all part of true nature and evolution and I only hope that charity doesn't become long forgotten as our animal urges and gluttony continue to go on! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, happy holidays, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Krawdad, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Krawdad... I felt the sting of truth in this.  It's good to see you here!  I miss the photo too.  Perhaps you have another?  Happy Holidays to you!
