Listening to every heart

Where does blue begin?

       For I have wondered recently,
Having seen it in a newborn's eye...

Hearing it
       In a song
                  Of the south...

Where does blue begin?

In a heavy heart, perhaps, or in the sound
                   Of a sigh gone low...

Or is it caught up in an ocean's view,
A reflection of a horizon, or two?

Is it in the bell of a flower,
Or whisking by on wing of bird,
                     Perhaps the color, uniformed,

Or swimming merrily...

Blood, I've heard,
           Is oft-times blue,
                      And shadows portend
                                  To hold it, too....

Where does it begin...?

Even Webster agrees...
         It's the color of sky
                    Or of the deep sea...

It's an emotion grabbing hold of you...

Perhaps its our world,
             A marble of blue
                         And a marvel to view.

very, very nice, Sunshine; I like the imagery of the Konrad poems, but I do like these short ones!   By asking the question in your title, I began to interact immediately!

Remarkable poem and very profound.  One I'd like to keep permanently and read again and again.

pose a wonderful question, and answered
with some brilliant answers! this is
beautiful.

take care and happy  holidays,

Oooh do I love this!
And, I love Dixie's reply.
I'm keeping this...for the next time I'm feeling 'blue'.
Love ya lady~

So I ask myself, which shade of blue are you?
And I answer, who knows, do you?

I think it begins with all of these. So much to ponder this chilly afternoon. I do so love your writing. I know I keep saying it, but each time I read another of your poems, I am just blown away.

I wish I had written this but glad I could read it.  Marti
