Shallow Memories

The tedious years have evolved,
eroded by the endless dawn.
I'm wasted by your quiet voice,
and trapped in this life I've lost.

Fingering my soul for your scent,
I crave the attention of your abuse.
To feel you devour my heart again,
then leave, small fragments of vomit.

Still I bath in this venomous lie,
am I convinced you'll always be
a dormant forgotten excuse?
.. your nothing but a shallow memory.
