It came...a breeze that fluttered a lid.  A soft moving of
air that caused me to inhale deeply, attempting to smell
the roses that once grew nearby.

I stood there, gently touching the wilted leaf, the now
dried petals falling softly to the hard earth.  I held that
tattered rose, feeling the coolness of the stalk, the
sharpness of each barb...a finger gliding effortlessly
along the stem.

And I flinched as a thorn drew a drop of red, red
mingling with the pale, lifeless petals...bringing fresh
life to the wilt...even if only what was seen, the
facade...

Bring to me the freshness of a rose.....that I might
tenderly hold, touch, smell a breath of heaven...
For when I do...my eyes see you there....smiling,
ever smiling...as I hold the rose...delicately until
life returns to the smooth cool stem....a new bud,
a new rose...growing anew...as you smile in my
dreams.

Oh Barry!

Your words are as smooth as silk and as awe inspiring as ever.

I wish you much love and happiness throughout Christmas and the New Year and I thank you for your friendship, inspiration and encouragement.

Take care

Love Sue

Magnus, this --
"Bring to me the freshness of a rose.....that I might
tenderly hold, touch, smell a breath of heaven...
For when I do...my eyes see you there....smiling,"

-- flows like magic to me!  I am not a critic, rather an affirmer of what touches me about words.  These did.  Thank you.

Sue,  it always is a pleasure to give you
a piece of my mind which so much is a part
of my poetry....sometimes just dreams...
sometimes more....thank you.

Iliana,  love the name...a world of words
could be written of a woman with that name.
Thanx for your thoughts....I have been in
the background most of the past week or so,
and my muse has deserted me...until tonite.
Thanx again...

Barry

Barry...Thank you for reminding me how the rose touches so many...I have grown calus, working with them so much in the flowershop...they are not an easy flower, but when given with love, they have a great deal of meaning...as does your poem.  Hugs, dear man!

Sometimes it takes a prick (hush Karen) to remind us we live and bleed.

Enjoyed this very much.
