The light, I say, does not dwell
Within the sun nor sky
But rather, within the soul
Spewing forth from the enabled eyes

The befuddlement of others is no longer
My responsibility
And never should have been
Nor is it yours to coddle
As if a security blanket
Hiding truth

The forked tongue of some
Snakes past me now
Knowing the venom it carries
No longer viable
Impotent

I looked to what has past
And smile
At the wisdom I have gained
And turn my head also
Not in sorrow
For my home still stands
Still shines

With the light of a softer soul

Yes, the title
says it all,
you truly were.

Thank you, Susan.
